London (together with Wall st, New York) supports the hub of the world’s financial transactions. All the major banks have offices here and the neatly dressed somber employees scurry around the streets like ants – all seeming to know exactly where they are going and exactly what time they will get there. There is no idle standing by in London. The sheer size is breathtaking. Streets seem to stretch on forever and if you loose your way it seems a lifetime to retrace your steps. Not really a city but more a collection of interlocking towns, the diversity of London and its mixture of cultures are astounding. The seedy backstreets of Soho lead onto a vibrant colours and smells of Chinatown leading onto the awe-inspiring majesty of Trafalgar Square, homage to pomp and circumstance, and I didn’t even get a chance to see Buckingham Palace.
