Ireland
Dublin
The River Liffey cuts Dublin lengthways though the centre and one of the first sights to greet me was a friendly seal playing amongst the low-tide silt of the Liffey. Irelands economic revival is apparent nowhere more than Dublin. Everywhere is being improved renovated and rebuilt, but the old Irish traditions go on. Every pub that I meander by offers live music, and Guinness fuelled revelers party long into the night. The only difference being that whole scores of smokers congregate outside for a cigarette. Everyone tries to buy into the Irish dream and way of life. Probably my most enduring memory would be the sight of drunken English, Americans and Canadians in a pub dancing a crazed Gaelic jig whilst the Irish cliental watched from the edge, totally perplexed.
