Iceland
Reykjavik is spread across a peninsular with a spectacular panoramic view of mountains and the Atlantic ocean. I was told that in the summer you can sit in a bar by the harbour at midnight and watch the sun just dip below the horizon before making its way up again. Unfortunately I was there at the wrong time of year. I found the architecture slightly geometric and uninspiring although some of the older wooden buildings had a unique charm of their own. Voted, one of the safest cities in the world, Reykjavik itself should be a magnet for any keen shopper. It may be a small city but the diversity of fashion and furniture shops that line the main High Street encourage all to retail therapy. When bored of shopping why not dip in one of the many outdoor geothermal heated pools that litter the city all over? Be warned though! Although the café/bar culture is very much alive and the night life is truly fantastic, a beer at £7.50 and a basic burger and chips £15.00, you will soon be digging deep into your wallets! Money aside, a great place to visit, possibly one of Europe's hottest (or do I mean coolest) capital cities.
