Tirana
Although poverty was certainly visible in Tirana and in Albania generally, more obvious were the massive modern looking buildings that were prevalent throughout Tirana. Albania has struggled with the transition from communism more than most. Much of the population still remains unemployed and organized crime is rife, but Albania is heading in the right direction and with the political will and the determination of its people, it will move forward into a modern Europe.
